Mrs. Odom

Welcome Back!  We have missed each sweet face this summer. For those of you who are new to the Van Alstyne community, welcome!  We are excited to have you and can't wait for you to be part of our Partin family.  Our theme for this year is: Building the Partin family one piece at a time. We promise to love your children, embrace them as the unique individual that they are and help them to reach their potential!

Academically speaking, we will be continue to use the reading program that we have had the last couple of years (ARC).   We will continue to promote independent reading for all students so you will see the blue ARC bags coming home again this year.   We will need your help this year to continue to establish a culture of literacy in our school. Additionally, we have added a 30 minute block of time to each grade level that will be used to build foundational math skills. This time will be used for intervention, acceleration and extension!

For those that do not know me, this will be my 7th year in VAISD, and my fourth year as Principal.  My previous experience includes  Assistant Principal in both Van Alstyne ISD and McKinney ISD, Instructional Coach and teacher in grades 2nd-8th. My husband and I are Van Alstyne residents and both of our children are VA Panthers!  I am passionate about public education and believe that educators have one of the most important jobs.  We are preparing students for careers that do not even exist yet. We have the responsibility to create critical thinkers and problem solvers who can adapt to an ever changing world.  My job is to support the staff and provide them with what they need as they invest in the future generation of leaders! I look forward to another fantastic year in VA.

It is truly an honor to serve the children, families and staff members of Partin Elementary. I look forward to partnering with you this year!

Respectfully,

Kristi Odom
